SpaceGuard Products, a North American leader in wire mesh security solutions, hosted a ceremony at Seymour High School in Seymour, Indiana to present a major donation to the school’s Advanced Manufacturing program in support of its Welding Technology and Precision Machining programs. This investment reflects SpaceGuard’s commitment to strengthening the local talent pipeline in Jackson County by helping students develop hands-on skills that prepare them for careers in manufacturing.
The donation, supported in part through the MHI Inspires Fund, will help to provide critical consumable materials, tooling, and enhanced ventilation for the welding lab within the Advanced Manufacturing program. As the program has grown to serve students throughout the school day, the additional resources are essential to maintaining a safe, effective, and well-equipped environment for welding and machining instruction.
Seymour High School’s Advanced Manufacturing program gives students real-world experience in welding and machining on campus, increasing valuable lab time while reducing the need to travel off-site for technical training. Through this program, students gain foundational welding skills, learn key safety procedures, and build practical, career-ready experience that can translate directly into local full-time manufacturing opportunities after graduation.
SpaceGuard’s support builds on an existing relationship with Seymour High School, as graduates of the Advanced Manufacturing program have already joined SpaceGuard’s welding department and contributed to its production operations. By aligning classroom training with the needs of local employers, the partnership helps ensure a steady pipeline of skilled, work-ready talent for manufacturers across the Seymour and Jackson County area.
School administrators and program leaders note that community and industry partnerships have been vital to the development and expansion of the Advanced Manufacturing program, from equipment donations to ongoing material support. With SpaceGuard’s latest contribution, Seymour Community Schools is better positioned to sustain program growth, expand hands-on learning opportunities, and continue offering pathways that connect students directly from high school into high-demand welding and machining careers in the local community.
