More than ever before, Americans are changing from commuting in cars to commuting by bicycle. Since 2005, we've witnessed the fact that Americans are driving less and less. There are, of course, numerous reasons for the decline but the fact is, driving is being replaced by a variety of options.
Are you a part of the almost 1% that now commutes by bike? Or, do your employees commute by bicycle? If so, you'll want to consider proper ways to store/enclose those bikes. According to bicyclelaw.com, approximately 800,000 to 2 million bikes are stolen every year! The first step to keep your bikes safe is to lock them up. SpaceGuard can custom design an enclosure to meet you and your customer's needs. Whether you already have an area for bikes to be stored or if you're looking to create one, SG2000 wire mesh partitions are the go-to solution!
SpaceGuard's exceptional customer service team can work with you to design a bicycle enclosure that will meet all of your requirements. We can make our wire caging go to any height and we have a wide range of custom door and lock solutions. Give us a call (800.841.0680) or send us an email today (firstname.lastname@example.org)!

Huey Lewis and The News had it right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB5YkmjalDg. It is truly hip to be square! This is a true classic by one of the our favorite bands. We completely agree that it's "Hip To Be Square", so much so that we have a wire partition line that utilizes square posts, square panels, and even square mesh sizes.
The panels in our SG2000 product line have mesh welded to an angular frame; making for one sturdy product! These panels can then be stacked on top of each other to meet a wide variety height requirements. The panels themselves are stacked between 2" x 2" SQUARE posts. All of the posts in this line including: door posts, line posts, corner posts and 3-way posts are all constructed of the same 2" square tube. Keep post growth in mind when designing a new enclosure and you'll be able to prevent the need for any custom sized panels. When it comes to mesh types and sizes, SG2000 gives you a lot of options. We can use woven wire, welded wire and expanded metal with this product line. With this type of flexibility, we can accommodate a lot of different mesh requirements. Here are a few square mesh sizes that we've done recently: 1" Square Mesh, 2" Square Mesh, 2-1/2" Square Mesh, and even 4" Square Mesh. With SG2000 being so 'square', that makes it the hippest caging product around!
Keep an eye on this line as SpaceGuard has some exciting new advances coming your way.

Oh no! A global healthcare supplier was in desperate need of an enclosure that would meet DEA specifications. But where would they turn? How would they know what they needed? Have no fear my friends, SpaceGuard along with their Jedi Knight counterpart (Skarnes) worked together to create a solution. First, the caging would need to go flush to the floor (no sweep space). Second, the cage would need self-closing/self-locking doors. Luckily, SpaceGuard offers multiple options to create a self-closing door: spring hinges or hydraulic closers for hinge doors and a gravity-close system for sliding doors.
If you're working with a pharmaceutical manufacturer or any type of healthcare product provider, be sure you're meeting the necessary requirements. You can read all about the DEA's requirements here: http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/21cfr/cfr/1301/1301_72.htm. Remember if you have a need for a DEA cage, then you're going to need SG2000 high-security wire partitions by SpaceGuard Products. With this product line, panels are stacked between 2" square posts making installation a breeze. Since the panels in this line stack, we can reach extraordinary heights while still utilizing our standard bolt-through system. That's right, no self-tap screws or drilling is required!
Thank goodness for SG2000, saving the day again by providing a safe and secure solution for all of your customer's needs.

A university in Wisconsin recently reached out to one of our distributors as they were having issues with people gaining access to a building's roof and chimneys via their exposed fire escape. Once atop the roof, trespassers would drink, litter and leave graffiti. Not only was this frustrating the university security team, but it was also becoming a safety concern as they didn't want anyone to fall off while climbing to the roof. They needed a simple, yet safe and secure way to prevent people from gaining access from this outdoor walkway.
Since the fire escape has multiple landings, the most sound solution was to put a doorway that would block access on the highest walkway. Since the walkway would need a door for emergency egress, we designed a 'winged doorway'. This door would have adjacent panels on both sides which would prevent anyone from being able to simply slip around the fence wall. Rather than use woven or welded wire, the customer decided to go with expanded metal as it would be almost impossible to climb. The openings of the expanded metal are too small (and sharp!) for anyone to put their fingers through. Product was installed easily and the customer is very happy with their new secured solution which has already proven to be effective.
And remember -- when Safety & Security are a concern, SpaceGuard has you covered!

An International minor metals manufacturing, refining and trading company (Telex Metals) was in need of a way to safely and securely lock up material on their existing pallet rack. Their goal was to find doors that would fit their 14'H pallet rack so that their customer's prepaid materials would stay protected until they were ready to ship. Their main concerns were how would they find doors that were large enough to fit their existing system while still be easy enough to install.
Standard height pallet rack doors from SpaceGuard Products come in heights of 7', 8', and 10' high; therefore, a simple resolution was devised. By stacking two sets of standard 7'H bi-parting hinge doors, we could meet the overall height requirement while still allowing for an easy installation. To make these two independent doors act as one single set, the upper and lower portions were bolted together. This created doors that met the full 14' height requirement while allowing for one single locking point via the padlock hasp on the lower set of doors.

Features / Benefits Provided:
Heavy-duty 6-gauge welded wire mesh and tube frame provide unrivaled
Designed with all standard parts thus reducing price and lead time
Panel-to-panel through bolt assembly does not require intermediate
posts reducing installation time
Hinge doors are pre-hung within fully framed panels reducing

The City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri required six (6) temporary holding
cells to be installed at their local law enforcement headquarters. Their requirements called for a heavy-duty 4-sided
wire mesh enclosure each with a ceiling and a swing door equipped with a
padlock hasp. The request was made for
an easily-installed product since the City’s maintenance department was to
provide their own installation. And while security was of the utmost
importance, the material was needed rather quickly.
After reviewing the City’s requirements and special requests,
SpaceGuard and its representatives recommended its industrially rugged 2180
welded wire partitions for this application.
The cages were designed using all standard sized components to keep the
lead time and price under budget. Series 2180 temporary holding cells are constructed of 6-gauge wire resistance welded
at each contact point and securely welded into a full 1” steel tube frame. This design provides unrivaled rigidity
without requiring intermediate posts between each panel. Panels are equipped with generous slotted
holes offset behind the wire mesh for quick mounting. Additionally, hinged doors are pre-hung
within the frame, eliminating additional installation time and allowing for a consistently
plumb fit. The end result was a secure system
that installed in half the time of most competitive systems.
After completing the installation and putting the enclosures into use,
Major Mark Taylor commented, “They are working out great.”

Recently, our sales team received a request for matching materials to a
unique guarding application from a member of our dealer network specializing in
data management solutions. The existing
material was installed in a major worldwide auto manufacturer's facility in the
Southeastern United States. The request
contained a parts list of components along with a photograph of the installed
application for reference.
At first glance, the application is a
partition wall, constructed of wire mesh panels attached to a steel post. Upon closer inspection, the “panels” are unframed
welded wire webs, similar in design to wire pallet rack decking. The unframed wire webs are attached to the
steel post with metal clips and self-tapping screws. It appears the partition wall sustained
damage and is being supported by the use of a zip-tie fastener. If asked to caption this photo, what words
would you use?
Let’s compare this to a similar photograph of SpaceGuard’s SG2000
versatile mesh enclosures. Again at
first glance, the construction is wire mesh panels attached to a steel post. The difference, though, is in the
details. Panels are constructed of fully
welded, steel angle framing around the wire mesh, expanded metal, or sheet
metal filler. Panel frames are punched and steel posts are pre-drilled to
accept the 5/16” through-bolts used for all connections. Asked the same question, would you use the
same words to describe SG2000?

At SpaceGuard, we are committed to the highest standard in both quality and service. Freight estimates and shipping coordination is just a couple of the services we provide for our distributors.
On April 20th, changes to the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) Guide
were put into effect. The ruling changed the classification and naming of our products therefore impacting their freight rate determination in Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipments.
Prior to the ruling, all LTL shipment were classified under Item 36890 and shipped under Class 77.5. Under the new guidelines, Item 36890 has been cancelled and reclassified under Item 68025 which uses a density scale to determine freight class. Per this scale, all LTL shipments are now shipped under Class 200.
In anticipation of the changes, SpaceGuard renegotiated and modified our rate agreements with our LTL carriers to ensure these changes would have little to no effect on the competitive rates we offer. We will continue to provide freight estimates, prepay and add, for all quotations. For those shipping collect or third party, all bill of ladings will include packaging dimensions and weights to help calculate densities. Please be advised that re-classifications and load inspections are to be expected during this transition period. Contact your agent to discuss and modify your rate agreement to help minimize the impact.
