Dear Eddie,

As promised, this month's newsletter continues to focus on engineered locking options available for our area guarding products.  These innovations were designed in response to limitations in industry standard lock options.  Yet we have developed several cost-effective solutions that consider the need for flexibility during installation and after the keys are handed over.

Whether you're an architect requiring an ADA-compliant door or a data communications installer looking to retrofit existing locks to electronic controlled access, we hope these ideas will open some doors for you and your customers.  As always, thanks for your business.

Universal Security

Universal door lockStandard mortise-style cylinder locks designed for wire partitions usually do the trick - but there are some limitations to the type of core and handles available in this lockset.

Those limitations are now a thought of the past with the Universal lockbox available in SG2000 woven wire, welded wire, and expanded metal partitions.  The lockbox is welded within the standard door frame and accepts a 2-3/4" backset lock with 1/2" throw that can be found at any hardware store.  Since these lock options come with IC housings, you can match cylinders to existing Best, Schlage and Sargent locks to name a few.

You can also choose knobs and handles that suit the needs of your project.  Lever handles for both sides of the hinged door can also be used to provide ADA-compliant access to and from the secured area.  Let us know if your architect or engineer would like CAD objects of this lock option.

It's Electric

Hinge door electric strikeSpaceGuard is pleased to introduce an electric strike option for single hinge doors in our SG2000 wire partition line. The electric strike offers a complimentary option to our shear mag-lock also available in this product line.

This option is ideal for retrofitting an existing SG2000 wire partition with a cylinder lock to an electric controlled access system.  Minimal material replacement would be required.  A new post with the electric strike would need to be ordered to replace the existing door post and lock receiver.

The strike mounts to a spacer welded to the door latch post and the latch keeper can be adjusted to compensate for slight out of plumb or level issues in the field.

The strike runs on 24 VDC and fails secure.  Find more detail on this lock option here or contact a sales associate to learn more.

Stay Tuned

Slide door electric strikeThere is still more to come!  SpaceGuard will be unveiling an electric strike option that works with the slide door tongue of our FordLogan wire partitions.  This option will assist many of our customers such as data centers who currently use FordLogan slide doors but need an economical way to convert to controlled access.

We also appreciate your patience while we continue to create new product sales literature that will include all of these lock options.  Please let us know if you need photos or copy to help promote these locking options by email in the meantime.

Customer Corner

Call centerFordLogan Slide Doors

FordLogan slide doors were designed to have the track terminate at a panel-to-panel intersection.  We do however understand that is not always the case.  The adjacent panel may terminate at an existing wall.  Or the layout of your cage may have dictated a line or corner post, or even an adjacent panel longer than the door.  Whatever the case may be, SpaceGuard has developed a solution for these special applications that allow you to support the track end through the wire mesh.

Find more detail on these instances on page 21 of our Installation Guide.  Or feel free to call one of our sales representatives at (800) 841-0680.
