the year.
As this is the season to give

The
Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) recently released
agency data on the most common types of
safety infractions in 2010 that can lead to
workplace injuries and fatalities. Listed
among the top ten infractions was
fall protection and
machine guarding. SpaceGuard offers an
array of
wire partitioning and security guarding
solutions to eliminate future infractions.
RailGuard mezzanine handrail safety systems
are an easy installed alternative to
traditional mezzanine hand railing. Panels,
constructed with SpaceGuard's triple crimped
woven wire securely welded in an angle
frame, and kick plates prevent potentially
costly accidents from falling objects.
Posts, constructed from 2" X 2" steel tube,
raise 45" above the deck. Posts are provided
with both top mount and side mount
installation to optimize the space of your
mezzanine or catwalk. RailGuard safety
systems meet OSHA requirements of 200 lbs
load applied at any point / direction. Tie
off may still be required, but RailGuard
ultimately aids in the prevention of falls
or items dropping from overhead.
SpaceGuard 2000 versatile mesh enclosures,
as the name implies, are engineered for
versatility and customization. SG2000
partitions are available in woven wire,
welded wire, expanded metal, sheet metal,
and even lexan for machine and
robotic guarding. SG2000 robotic
guarding is available in a variety of colors
in our factory applied powder coat including
yellow for posts and the tops of panels, and
black for improved visibility of the
machinery through the mesh. SG2000 can also
be configured for full height barriers atop
mezzanines to provide additional protection
above RailGuard.
Workplace safety violations put workers at
risk and can be costly with fines and
possible loss time. Don't let another
potential violation cost you, call one of
SpaceGuard's trained sales representatives
to help design a secure, safe solution to
meet your OSHA or other safety requirements.

Before
installation of your area guarding materials you
should always follow three simple steps: Plan, Prep,
and Layout:
Plan:
Who is receiving materials and where/how will they
be staged during construction. Once construction has
commenced, will there be any constraints or
limitations on the movement of materials?
Prep: Prepare the site to ensure the ground
is free of debris. Consider removal of obstructions
or concrete imperfections that may affect the plumb
and level installation of your system. Identify low
spots in floors that may require shims or fill if
possible.
Layout:
Measure the space and snap chalk lines to layout the
overall configuration of your system. Whether you
are installing wire partitions, lockers or other
area guarding remember these items concerning
growth: SG2000 and RailGuard use 2" posts therefore
1" measurement to center-line, FordLogan and 2180
partitions have 1-1/4" corner and three ways
equaling 5/8" measurement to center-line, AisleGuard
barriers use 4" posts or 2" to center-line, and
locker side panels add 1/8" of growth and should be
measured to the outside of the panel so they can be
seen once stood on the floor.
